Summer is here and it is brutally humid and hot outside. This is a popular time of year for outdoor parties, weddings, and all sorts of events. Having sufficient cooling by using AC for the tent is crucial for a steady and comfortable climate for the guests. Portable AC units are typically installed outside of the tent.
At Portable Air, we take the size of the tent and determine how much AC is needed to best cool the space. As a rule of thumb, plan on one ton of cooling for every 100 to 150 square feet of area within a tent. However, there are a lot of factors that play into determining size, such as:
The most common units for tents are the vertical dx package units, horizontal dx package units, and Vector misting fans. The vertical dx package units are beautiful for tents because they fit seamlessly with the sidewalls creating a blended aesthetic for the guests. The horizontal dx package units are another option if you want to go with larger sizes or you are worried about noise from the units. The vector fans are perfect for open-sided tents where evaporative cooling is the best solution.
Once the configuration is determined, you also will need to consider the available power supply for your tent with AC. A generator is often needed to support the power needs to adequately cool the space.
